Welcome!

Regional business and education leaders are initiating a Talent Alignment Strategy for the Piedmont Triad. The purpose of the Strategy is to ensure education and workforce development efforts are aligned with the needs of employers and to coordinate existing education and workforce development initiatives currently underway throughout the region.

Roll Out Event

Early this month, more than 200 community leaders gathered at Grandover for the roll out of our Talent Strategy for the region. Together we heard updates on our workforce, regional training and skills capacity, and looked at recommendations to grow and improve the workforce pipeline. Three priority goals will be addressed initially:

  1. Employers are engaged in coordinated, results-oriented programs.
  2. Disengaged populations are connected to workforce programs and upskilling opportunities.
  3. The Piedmont Triad is recognized as an attractive place to live, work, and learn.

We will continue to develop these goals with regional resources and stakeholders and track our progress at www.TriadTalent.com .

Below are the handouts, presentations, videos and results of the event. More than 50 attendees responded to a call for participation, input and feedback at the event. If you were not present, or did not complete a feedback form, please follow this link to tell us how you or your organization can be a part of the Triad's Talent Strategy!

About

Avalanche Consulting and the Council for Adult & Experiential Learning (CAEL) were engaged to facilitate and prepare the Strategy, to include the following:

  • PHASE 1: Workforce Analysis will determine the makeup of the region’s labor force and identify the industries and occupations that are thriving.

  • PHASE 2: Supply-Demand Gap Analysis will identify what skills the workforce currently has, what skills employers need, and how to fill in gaps in the workforce pipeline.

  • PHASE 3: Talent Alignment Strategy will provide recommendations on how to align and improve the region’s talent pipeline.

Stakeholder input will take place throughout this process. Focus groups and interviews will be facilitated with stakeholders in the region, supplemented by an employer survey. A Steering Committee consisting of industry, education, and workforce leaders from throughout the Piedmont Triad will serve as advisors to the project.

Why a Talent Alignment Strategy?

Through this strategic planning process, we seek to answer the following questions:

Workforce Analysis

  • What does your workforce look like today?

  • Which industries and occupations are projected to create the most jobs over the next 5- and 10-years?

Supply-Demand Gap Analysis

  • Are students pursuing degrees that are in demand and match the needs of target industries?

  • Does the region have the programs needed to meet the region's economic development goals?

Talent Alignment Strategy

  • How should the education system adapt to meet current workforce challenges?

  • How can providers boost or create programs that target industries value and get recognized?

The Consulting Team

Avalanche Consulting’s mission and passion is to help communities become more vibrant and prosperous. We are a leading national consultancy specializing in strategic planning, workforce analyses, and customized research for economic and workforce development organizations.

The Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL) is a national, non-profit organization whose mission is to expand learning opportunities for adults. CAEL works to remove policy and organizational barriers to learning opportunities, identifies and disseminates effective practices, and delivers value-added services.

The Piedmont Triad Partnership (PTP) is a leadership organization bringing together the business community in the Triad region to promote prosperity and growth. PTP supports regional development platforms including megasite development, the aeroplex anchored by Piedmont Triad International Airport and the redevelopment of Whitaker Park Complex. We believe supporting these transformational projects will prepare the Triad to compete for major economic development job generators.

The Greensboro Chamber of Commerce is the largest business organization in the community serving more than 1,000 member businesses through programming designed to help them succeed and grow. A partner in the Guilford County Economic Development Alliance, the Chamber also serves as Greensboro primary economic development organization, with special emphasis placed on community and entrepreneurial advancement through Action Greensboro and Launch Greensboro.
